TREHARRIS SQUARE DEVELOPMENT
THE BRIEF
To integrate community engaged artwork into the Treharris Square Redevelopment Scheme.
OUR RESPONSE
Initial proposals were submitted that included the installation of steel, light boxes into the stone walling with the intention that the subject matter for these boxes would emerge from the consultation process. Consultations were held with individuals and groups from within the community until the subject matter was agreed.
The brushed stainless steel light boxes would be transformed at night into striking silhouettes by the LED lighting that was placed behind each of the coloured glass panels.
The design of each panel was developed and tested prior to installation whilst working closely with the project team, which included Capita Symonds (Project Managers), Alan Griffiths (Main Contractor) and the Local Authority Regeneration team (Client).
TESTIMONIAL
I would wholeheartedly recommend Craig Pearce from Creative Services for any art related project.
He was always professional and courteous and communicated his ideas and designs throughout the project. He met with the local community and groups to gather their views and opinions to ensure they were fully involved with the consultation process. I was delighted with the end product and think the cultural boxes enhance the square whilst also telling a brief history of the area.
